OAA Lands Five Schools in Massive 2027 Expansion

The Oakland Activities Association is set to undergo one of the largest expansions in its history as Davison, Grand Blanc, Northville, Novi, and Clawson are all slated to join the conference beginning in the fall of 2027.

The additions come amid the ongoing realignment of Michigan high school athletics and further establish the OAA as one of the state’s premier conferences. The expansion will bring together some of Michigan’s most successful athletic programs under one banner, stretching the league’s footprint beyond Oakland County and into Genesee County.

For football, the transition may not feel entirely new. Davison and Grand Blanc have regularly crossed paths with OAA Red powers in the MHSAA playoffs over the last decade. Matchups against schools such as Clarkston, Lake Orion, West Bloomfield and Oxford have become common postseason battles, making the move a natural fit from a competitive standpoint.

Northville and Novi arrive from the KLAA, while Davison and Grand Blanc make the jump from the Saginaw Valley League and Clawson returns to a conference where it previously competed for decades.

The realignment marks a significant shift in the Michigan high school sports landscape and will have implications across football, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer and other sports. With the additions finalized, the OAA is positioning itself as one of the most competitive and influential athletic conferences in the state heading into the next decade.

As conference schedules begin to take shape, fans can look forward to a new era of rivalries, increased competition and some of the biggest regular-season matchups Michigan high school sports has to offer.
