Mendon trailed by one at the end of a fast-paced first quarter. It took nearly four minutes into the second quarter for either team to score, but once the drought ended, the game turned into a back-and-forth battle. A couple of big three-pointers from Ryder Gorham helped the Hornets take a 35–30 lead into halftime.
Both teams came out in zone defense to start the second half, and both executed it well. However, Mendon gained the edge by forcing more turnovers, allowing them to maintain a slim 48–46 lead heading into the final minutes. It was clear both teams desperately wanted the win. The fourth quarter was physical and intense, with fans on both sides feeling a few more fouls could have been called. Mendon stayed composed down the stretch, forcing Pittsford to play the foul game as the clock wound down. The Hornets closed it out for a 70–61 victory.
