A powerful Grandville offense powered by Junior PG Carter Wade, proved to be too much for the Pirates. Wade controlled the tempo throughout the game consistently feeding his teammates and getting himself open looks on each possession. Despite the difference in Division size PW truly looked they belonged playing with grit, resilience, and ultimately matching Grandville’s physicality and executing well offensively. PW was lead by Senior PG Grady Eklund with 18pts. The Pirates kept the game in reach with solid defense and proper shots falling at the right time, putting lots of pressure on Grandville down the stretch.

In the final minute, PW tied the game at 45 with a tough, contested layup. On the next trip down, Grandville point guard Carter Wade attacked the basket and was fouled with eight seconds left. He stepped to the line and knocked down both free throws to give Grandville a two-point lead. Pewamo-Westphalia guard Grady Eklund brought the ball up the floor and called a timeout with five seconds remaining to set up a final play. Coming out of the timeout, the Pirates turned the ball over on the inbounds pass, ending the game in a 47–45 loss.

Player of the Game - Carter Wade

Wade plays with a level of swagger you don’t see from every hooper. He has a great feel for the game and knows how to slow things down while seeing the whole floor. That court awareness really stands out. He also showed strong sportsmanship throughout the game, helping up opposing players on multiple occasions. Overall, Wade is the kind of player you trust with the ball anywhere on the court, and he backs it up by staying humble.
