The game started at a fast pace, with both teams attacking the basket early. However, Centreville took control and built a commanding 43–26 lead by halftime. White Pigeon opened the second half with two quick three-pointers and began to find their offensive rhythm in the third quarter, scoring 21 points. Their defense tightened in the fourth, keeping the game within reach. However, Centreville did what good teams do they found a way to win. Slowing the tempo and managing the clock effectively, they secured a 69–63 victory.
Hall of Fame Inductions During halftime, Centreville added three new inductees to its Hall of Fame.
First introduced was Cameron Jergens, a dominant three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and baseball. He earned All-State honors in both baseball and football and collected nine varsity letters during his high school career. Jergens went on to play baseball at Daytona State College and North Carolina A&T State University. The second inductee was Toni Rangler. Also a three-sport athlete, basketball was her true passion. She was a four-year varsity starter, surpassed the 1,000-point milestone, and was named First Team All-State in her senior year. She continued her basketball career at Ferris State University. Joining these two outstanding athletes was the 2018 Varsity Softball Team. The team finished the regular season with 29 wins, including 24 mercy-rule victories. Though challenged in the postseason, they were never stopped—defeating Coleman 5–2 to capture the state championship. On the season, they scored 515 runs, recorded 483 hits, and posted an impressive .421 team batting average. Congratulations to everyone!

Play of the Game Brought to you by Pit Training League
To open the second half, White Pigeon’s #22 Strawser knocked down a smooth pick-and-pop three-pointer to spark a comeback attempt. It was one of six three-pointers he hit on the night.

Player of the Game
Will Hulin Hulin may not have led the team in scoring, but he made all the right plays when the Bulldogs needed them most. Whether it was playing good defense on a strong White Pigeon backcourt with tight defense or knocking down clutch free throws, he did whatever it took to help secure the win.
Carpenter Action Shots – Thoughts From Behind the Camera
This was a special game for me to cover. As a Centreville graduate, it was great to see so many familiar faces in the stands. The 2018 softball team was coached by a former classmate of mine and her father who also happened to be my little league coach. Toni Rangler’s parents were my neighbors growing up, and Cam Jergens is the older brother of another one of my classmates. Cam was one of the athletes I looked up to during my junior pro days. It was a great reminder that high school sports aren’t just about Friday night entertainment—they’re about tradition, relationships, and community.
